Palmetto Woodturners is excited to present Randy Grant!
Randy is one of our very own PWT members. He will be doing both , a HOC on Friday and a Demonstration for the club on Saturday. His topic will be on turnings and enhancing their bottoms for a more professional look. So come on out to support Randy and his Demonstration.
Randy Grant had his first woodturning experience in his uncle’s furniture-making and repair shop at the age of 15 – then took a 50-year hiatus. He was invited to a demonstration at Palmetto Woodturners (PWT) and then to a week at John C. Campbell Folk School (JCCFS) in 2013. The woodturning hook was set. Randy observed world-class turners at PWT meetings, took part in hands-on classes (HOC) at PWT, was mentored by PWT members, studied at JCCFS three times, took part in 3-day sessions at Arrowmont with the Carolina Mountain Woodturners (CMW), as well as demonstrations and HOCs at CMW. The apex of his learning experiences was a 3-day workshop with David Ellsworth with a small group in David’s gallery.
Sometimes we learn the most by teaching and Randy has done a demonstration at the Savannah River Woodturners in Augusta, SC; two workshops and demonstrations at PWT; and two workshops at CMW.
