Hands-on with Jim Waterbury & Don Beasley: Peppermills and Bottle Stoppers

The morning session will be taught by Jim Waterbury. Students will learn to turn and assemble a pepper mill. The tools needed for this project include:

  • roughing gouge
  • spindle gouge
  • parting tool
  • calipers
  • sandpaper
  • 1 1/16" forstner bit
  • 1 5/8" forstner bit
  • 5/16" drill bit

The materials cost for this project is $18

The afternoon session will be taught by Don Beasley, who will teach students to turn and assemble a bottle stopper.The tools needed for this project include:

  • spindle gouge
  • detail gouge
  • calipers
  • embellishing tool(s)
  • sandpaper
  • super glue and accelerator
  • old coins or other items to embed in the top "for bling"

Don will provide drill bits and taps for cutting threads. Students will make holding jigs in class.
