About this event

Jack Roberts, from Gainesville, FL will be our guest Demonstrator and also be teaching the HOC. The subject Jack will be teaching is a Long Neck Hollow Form.

Jack first woodturning began in high school shop class in 1967. Years later, functional woodworking became artistic woodturning. Jack has been a club president for over 10 years to two different AAW chapter clubs. He is currently doing demonstrations and teaching a variety of woodturning techniques.

A background of automotive collision repairs is incorporated in his present work using color and high gloss finishes. Specializing in bowls, boxes, and hollow forms. Jack’s craftsmanship is a fusion of traditional technique and modern finishing mastery—creating pieces that stand out both visually and in craftsmanship.

Jack Roberts

A long neck hollow form is a graceful and distinctive vessel that showcases both craftsmanship and creativity. Hollowed from both ends, it allows for a wide range of shapes and proportions,
from slender profiles to fuller, more sculptural forms. Its tall, flowing curves and flared rim create a sense of elegance and movement. The smooth surface serves as an ideal canvas for
natural grain, color, or decorative embellishments, making each piece uniquely expressive and visually striking.

Below you will find the class information. We will have some time towards the end of the class to discuss adding color to your piece. You may also bring in a turned piece you may like to practice on. Jack will supply some ink and spray guns for this process. You may also bring your own if you have them.
